Hello, I'm having a bit of trouble getting Netbackup 7 to work properly with ZFS snapshots on Solaris 10u9, and searches so far have not turned up any results matching my issue here. Basically, I have a bunch of ZFS filesystems mounted under /zones/. A bpstart_notify script is successfully creating...
Jul 03, 2013 · The default subvolume to mount is always the top of the btrfs tree (subvolid=5). Subvolumes are created below the top of the btrfs tree as needed, e.g. for / and /home, it creates subvolumes named @ and @home. This means that specific options are needed in order to mount the subvolumes, instead of the default btrfs tree top:

Load a ZFS encryption key. If you use ‘ prompt ’ as the argument, grub-mount will read a passphrase from the terminal; otherwise, it will read key material from the specified file.
The NAS is running just fine only ZFS doesn't mount after a reboot as the shared folders are created before the ZFS mount occurs and the ZFS refuses to mount. So each time I reboot the NAS I have to ssh in and delete the shared folders and mount the ZFS - then it is all good. This issues has been reported on the bugtracker: 0001851 0001827
Jan 11, 2016 · ZFS will automatically protect your data from "Bit rot", something that can happen to ALL forms of storage. Every time ZFS reads a block, it compares it to it's checksum, and automatically fixes it. That's great if you read your data a lot. However, what if you write the data, and then don't look at it again for years? Is it protected from bit rot?
Just added the first ZFS system as a new maglib: 450TiB pool, 8x11 vdevs of 8TB drives in RAIDZ3. Traditionally, we have used SAN based storage, where we create 4TB luns ontop of the RAID6 arrays. These 4TB LUNS are then added as mount paths to the commvault library. Ive currently divided up the large pool into 4 ZFS datasets with a quota on each.
ZFS woes, and Red Hat's penchant for yanking hardware support (like a PERC/4e RAID controller I encountered this spring), have brought me to the point that the only new CentOS installations I'll make will be KVM guests. The last straw for me was the 1708 release, when the ZFS modules failed to build, leaving my home NAS stuck on the old kernel.
Now, lets setup the ZFS to export a particular dataset. #zfs set sharesmb=on data/myshare #zfs set sharesmb=name=myshare data/myshare. Fix filesystem mount ordering: We need to activate zfs-mount-generator. This makes systemd aware of the separate mountpoints, which is important for things like /var/log and /var/tmp. In turn, rsyslog.service depends on var-log.mount by way of local-fs.target and services using the PrivateTmp feature of systemd automatically use After=var-tmp ...
When a file system is mounted read-only (such as on SY2), the mount request is sent to the local physical file system (in this case, zFS) and zFS opens the file system data set (for read). If the mount is successful on that system, z/OS® UNIX records the mount and sends a signal to the other sysplex member systems to issue a "catch-up" mount ...
Jul 24, 2017 · When looking at zfs list you'll notice mention of a filesystem called zroot/ROOT/default. It says it's mounted (/tmp/mystuff) but nothing is there. Yah, that's because this filesystem doesn't get mounted automatically. Once again: to accommodate for that stuff above which I won't speak of anymore So: # zfs mount zroot/ROOT/default.
